The Indie Driver/ Owner has taken control back into his own hands & is back at the tuning helm.
Diehl rebuilt the car from the ground up -worked night and day at J-Ed Hortons shop in Greenville, SC with only a couple crew guys, Dustin Gatliff, Don Lynch and the men at the shop including J-Ed Horton & Top Fuel tuner, Richard Hartman... as well as Nitro Lucy (Jeff & Leeza's beloved dog) who watches & keeps everyone in line.
Sponsor assistance came in from RimzOneOnline, Pirana Z & Lescure Co. They had to front 1/2 the car which thanks to J-Ed, is now handling better than ever! They are using the red & black retired body that had been wounded at Charlotte & repaired by Jeff personally.
Ideal "FTG" Racing welcomed nitro tuner, Todd Blakely to the pits at Bristol! ..and did pretty well...
With the encouragement of family, friends, fans...John Force himself & Leeza -Jeffs wife, the next stop was Norwalk, where Jeff "The Surfer" Diehl tuned the car himself & ran a kickass 4.20 @ 298 mph...turning heads his way again & making the big boys nervous.. but proud of him! AND to his credit, not one part was hurt, not one drop of oil spilled, no body to repair or replace & qualified @ number 13! -being taken out on raceday by the #1 guy, Robert Hight...who said Diehl is no longer one to be taken lightly! =) In Diehl's own words "With that 4.20/298 LOL, we already won baby- we did what we came to do! We got our hotrod back!!!"
With a huge smile & a weight lifted off his tired shoulders Diehl loaded up & headed to the home /shop of Bullet Bob & Cathie Floch in Cortland Oh...to unload the borrowed trailer & then to Maryland to return said trailer & pick up his own ...then back to Bob & Cathies to repair his trailer, reload & get ready to head to Seattle... so stoked!!
